Adopt a Sheep

Unsure if there would be interest, we decided to offer an Adopt-a-Sheep Program, just to try it, and we have been amazed by the enthuastic response. People just love it! Many of our customers dream of owning a farm in the country someday and having their very own flock of sheep. Now a personal experience is possible through Adopt-a-Sheep.

Look at what customers say about our Adopt-a-Sheep program:

This is just a unique and wonderful opportunity! I am so excited to receive a fleece to work with from one of my very own "girls". Thank you so much for all of your hard work!
- Jennifer M, North Carolina, adoptive mother of Miss Mary

This program means so much to me. I love to spin but just do not have a means of keeping my own flock of sheep. The processed roving is just beautiful!
- Maggie R, New York, adoptive mother of Pretty Pearl

There are several choices to be made when adopting a sheep.....

1. Think about the color of wool you would like to work with.

2. What form do you want the fiber to arrive in? Would you like to wash and card it yourself or have it arrive ready to spin (roving)? Read the Program Descriptions & Details below to find out what options are available.

3. Consider the the project that you have in mind for the fiber. Are you wanting to use lamb fleece or an adult fleece? Some participants of our program have elected to adopt a mature ewe and purchase a lamb fleece to be processed with it.

4. Also, consider what experiences you want to share with your adopted sheep. Would you rather hear about the lambs your mature ewe is raising or watch your adopted lamb grow up?

Quarterly, Quaker Anne will write a letter to the child describing the recent happenings of the adopted sheep on the farm. A picture of the adopted sheep will be sent with each letter along with a bar of our unique sheepmilk soap. Shipping included. $55

Adopt-a-Sheep for Spinners (Raw Fleece)
This option allows the individual to pick the sheep they want to adopt who has the fleece they would like to work with. They receive the entire raw fall fleece. The fleece is skirted and then sent directly to the individuals home. This is a great option for those who enjoy doing the washing and processing themselves. The individual will receive an adoption certificate and four times a year, Quaker Anne will write a letter to the individual describing the recent happenings of the adopted sheep.
